Frequently Asked
X-ray Questions
We’re here to make your visit as easy as possible.
Below are answers to common questions about X-rays.
What conditions can an X-ray help diagnose?
X-rays are commonly used to diagnose broken bones, fractures, dislocations, joint injuries, arthritis, certain lung conditions, and other medical concerns. At Lansing Urgent Care, digital X-rays help our providers quickly evaluate many injuries and illnesses so you can receive prompt treatment.
Does Lansing Urgent Care offer on-site X-rays?
Yes. All Lansing Urgent Care locations offer on-site digital X-rays, allowing patients to receive imaging during the same visit. This helps speed up diagnosis and treatment without needing to visit another facility. Please note that X-ray availability may vary by location and hours of operation.
Do I need an appointment for an X-ray?
No. Walk-ins are welcome at Lansing Urgent Care, and you can also save your spot online before arriving. If your provider determines that an X-ray is medically necessary, it can be completed during your visit.
When should I get an X-ray after an injury?
You should seek medical evaluation if you have severe pain, swelling, bruising, difficulty moving a joint, inability to bear weight, or suspect you may have broken a bone. Your provider will determine whether an X-ray is appropriate based on your symptoms and physical examination.
Can urgent care diagnose a broken bone with an X-ray?
Yes. Digital X-rays allow our providers to diagnose many fractures, dislocations, and other bone injuries. If a fracture is identified, we can often provide splinting, bracing, pain management, and orthopedic referrals when necessary.
Are X-rays safe?
Yes. Digital X-rays use a very small amount of radiation and are considered safe for most patients. Your provider will only recommend an X-ray when the medical benefits outweigh any potential risks. If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, be sure to tell your provider before your X-ray.
How long does an X-ray take?
Most X-rays take only a few minutes to perform. Including your provider’s evaluation and review of the images, your visit is often completed within the same appointment so you can begin treatment as quickly as possible.
Will I receive my X-ray results during my visit?
Yes. In most cases, your provider will review your X-ray images during your visit and discuss the findings with you. If additional review by a radiologist is needed, you’ll be notified of any important findings and recommendations.
What happens if my X-ray shows a fracture or another injury?
If your X-ray identifies a fracture or other injury, your provider will explain your diagnosis and recommend the appropriate treatment. This may include a splint, brace, walking boot, pain management, activity restrictions, or referral to an orthopedic specialist if additional care is needed.
Why choose Lansing Urgent Care for X-rays?
Lansing Urgent Care offers convenient walk-in care, digital X-ray services, experienced providers, and extended hours seven days a week. By combining evaluation, imaging, and treatment in one visit, we help patients receive fast answers and begin recovery sooner.
