When should I take a pregnancy test?
You can take a pregnancy test as early as the first day of your missed period. Some tests may detect pregnancy earlier, but testing after a missed period generally provides the most accurate results. If you’re unsure when to test, our providers can help determine the best timing based on your symptoms and menstrual cycle.
How accurate are pregnancy tests?
Pregnancy tests are highly accurate when used correctly and at the appropriate time. Urine pregnancy tests performed at Lansing Urgent Care are reliable and can detect the pregnancy hormone (hCG) in most pregnancies shortly after a missed period.
Can urgent care perform a pregnancy test?

What pregnancy symptoms should I watch for?
Early pregnancy symptoms may include a missed period, nausea or vomiting, breast tenderness, fatigue, frequent urination, bloating, food cravings, mood changes, and mild cramping. These symptoms can also occur with other medical conditions, so testing is the best way to confirm pregnancy.
How soon will I get my pregnancy test results?
Most urine pregnancy test results are available within a few minutes during your visit. Your provider will review the results with you, answer your questions, and discuss any recommended follow-up care.
Can urgent care help if my pregnancy test is positive?
Yes. If your pregnancy test is positive, our providers can discuss your results, answer your questions, provide early pregnancy guidance, and recommend appropriate follow-up care with an obstetrician or primary care provider. If you do not already have an OB/GYN, we can help guide you on the next steps.
What if my pregnancy test is negative but I still think I'm pregnant?
If your test is negative but your period has not started, you may have tested too early. Your provider may recommend repeating the test in a few days or following up with your primary care provider or OB/GYN if your symptoms continue or worsen.
Can urgent care evaluate pregnancy-related concerns?
Yes. Lansing Urgent Care can evaluate many non-emergency pregnancy-related concerns such as nausea, vomiting, urinary tract infections, minor illnesses, and questions about pregnancy testing. However, some pregnancy complications require emergency medical care.
When should I go to the emergency room during pregnancy?
Seek emergency medical care immediately if you’re experiencing severe abdominal or pelvic pain, heavy vaginal bleeding, severe dizziness or fainting, chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe headaches with vision changes, or signs of an ectopic pregnancy. These symptoms require immediate evaluation.
Do I need an appointment for pregnancy testing?
