WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A DOT PHYSICAL
During your DOT physical at Lansing Urgent Care, our certified medical examiners will review your health history, check vital signs, and perform a complete physical exam. This includes vision and hearing checks, cardiovascular evaluation, and overall physical health assessment to ensure you meet DOT standards.
If you meet all requirements, you will receive your medical examiner certificate, also known as your DOT medical card, so you can stay on the road without interruption.

If you meet all DOT requirements, you will receive a Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC), also known as your DOT medical card. This certification is required to maintain your commercial driver’s license.
Without a valid DOT medical card, you may not be eligible to operate a commercial vehicle.
As of 2023, drivers with insulin treated diabetes or monocular vision must meet updated certification guidelines. Required documentation for these conditions must be completed at least 45 days prior to your DOT physical.
Who Needs a DOT Physical?
You are required to complete a DOT physical if you operate a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce and meet any of the following conditions:
• Your vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating over 10,000 pounds
• You transport more than 15 passengers
• You are paid to transport more than 8 passengers
• You transport hazardous materials that require placarding

Can I still pass my DOT physical if I have high blood pressure or diabetes?

What happens if I don't pass my DOT physical?
