Lansing Urgent Care offers (3) Covid-19 tests to help keep you, your family and our community safe. Please read below for more information. Please note the IgG antibody test is available until 1 hour before closing and available at our Clippert St. location.
What do these COVID-19 tests detect?
Rapid Antigen Test is designed to detect viral proteins present in the Covid-19 virus WHILE YOU WAIT (10-15 minutes). Rapid tests are especially useful for those with symptoms of Covid-19 infection and/or those exposed to someone with known Covid-19 infection. Rapid tests are available to anyone whether or not symptoms of Covid-19 exist, but certain people may be encouraged to have a follow-up PCR test for confirmation of the rapid test result depending on their individual history, presentation, and rapid test result. PCR Test is the gold standard test to detect Covid-19. PCR can take 3-4 (or more) days for results, and because PCR is more sensitive than a rapid test, PCR tests can sometimes remain falsely “Positive” for weeks or months after a Covid-19 infection has ended. Rapid antigen testing, while a bit less sensitive than PCR, has a real advantage over PCR in certain instances because it’s less likely to give a false-positive result after a recent infection has ended. Antibody IgG Blood Test will detect if you have had prior exposure to COVID-19 and have developed antibodies to the virus. As COVID-19 is a new virus, it is unclear if the presence of antibodies definitely
What criteria do I need to meet to receive one of these tests?
Rapid Antigen Test:
- If you’re asymptomatic but need a Rapid Test for work, travel etc…
- If you’re asymptomatic but you potentially had contact with someone who has the COVID-19 virus.
- If you are actively experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
PCR (Nasal Swab):
- If you’re asymptomatic but desire a PCR test for work, travel, or other reason.
- If you’re asymptomatic but you potentially had contact with someone who has the COVID-19 virus.
- If you are actively experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
Serum Antibody IgG (Blood Test):
- If you previously had COVID-19 symptoms, you’ve recovered, and at least 14 days have passed since your first symptoms.
- If you had a positive test result for COVID-19, you’ve recovered, and at least 14 days have passed since your first symptoms.
- If you’ve been asymptomatic but believe you had contact with someone who may have had the COVID-19 virus.
How are these tests administered?
Rapid Antigen & PCR (Nasal Swab): Administered via a nasopharyngeal (nasal) swab. This test is available on-site at LUC. You can get in line online by clicking here or walk into any of our 8 locations.
Serum Antibody IgG (Blood Test): Administered via a blood sample. This test can be performed at any one of our 8 convenient locations.
How long will it take to receive my results and how do I view them?
Rapid Antigen: This test result is available in just 10-15 minutes! Results will be discussed during your visit.
PCR (Nasal Swab): Test results typically take 3-4 days to return. PCR results can be viewed via the patient results portal available on the Lansing Urgent Care website.
Serum Antibody IgG (Blood Test): Generally, it will take 2-4 days to receive your antibody results. Your results can be viewed via the patient results portal available on the Lansing Urgent Care website.
What locations can I visit for these COVID-19 tests?
Rapid Antigen: This test can be performed at any of our 8 locations 7 days/week. You can schedule a visit here.
PCR (Nasal Swab): This test can be collected at any of our 8 locations. You can schedule a visit here.
Serum Antibody IgG (Blood Test): The Antibody IgG (Blood Test) can be drawn at any Lansing Urgent Care location. This test MUST be performed with a traditional in-person visit. You can schedule a visit here.
What precautions do I take based on my results?
Rapid Antigen: Depending on whether you’re asymptomatic or symptomatic for possible Covid-19 infection, AND your history of potential exposure to others with Covid-19, we’ll guide you as to the most appropriate next steps for quarantine and/or testing during your visit. It can get confusing, but we’ll walk you through it!
PCR (Nasal Swab):
- Negative: Continue to exercise precautions such as social distancing, frequent hand washing, wearing of a mask or face cloth in public, and other CDC guideline recommendations.
- Positive: Stay home, separate yourself from others in your home, continue to monitor your symptoms, call 911 if you have an emergency.
Antibody IgG (Blood Test):
- Regardless of your results, you should continue to exercise precautions such as social distancing, frequent hand washing, wearing of a mask or face cloth in public, and other CDC guideline recommendations. Remember, COVID-19 is a new infection, and it is not yet clear if a positive antibody test means someone has enduring immunity to Covid-19.

Can urgent care diagnose COVID-19?
Yes. Lansing Urgent Care evaluates patients with COVID-like symptoms and offers testing when appropriate. Your provider will review your symptoms, perform an examination, and discuss the most appropriate treatment recommendations.
How long should I stay home if I have COVID-19?
Current public health guidance recommends staying home until you’ve been fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and your symptoms are improving. Your provider can give personalized recommendations based on your health and workplace or school requirements.
What treatments are available for COVID-19?
Treatment depends on your age, medical history, and the severity of your illness. Many people recover with rest, fluids, and symptom management. Patients at higher risk for severe illness may qualify for antiviral medications or other treatments when evaluated early.
When should I seek medical care for COVID-19?
You should seek evaluation if you have worsening symptoms, persistent fever, dehydration, difficulty breathing, or concerns about your recovery. Early medical evaluation can help identify complications before they become more serious.
When should I go to the emergency room for COVID-19?
