Frequently Asked
Work Comp
Questions

We’re here to make your visit as easy as possible.
Below are answers to common questions about work compensation and injuries.

What is workers' compensation?

Workers’ compensation is insurance that provides medical care and benefits for employees who are injured or become ill because of their job. If you’ve been hurt at work, Lansing Urgent Care can evaluate your injury, provide treatment, and help you begin the workers’ compensation process so you can recover and return to work safely.

Lansing Urgent Care treats many workplace injuries, including cuts, lacerations, burns, sprains, strains, fractures, back injuries, eye injuries, puncture wounds, repetitive motion injuries, and other non-life-threatening conditions. We also provide on-site X-rays, wound care, splinting, and other occupational health services.

You should seek medical care as soon as possible after a workplace injury, even if it seems minor. Early evaluation helps document your injury, begin appropriate treatment, reduce the risk of complications, and support the workers’ compensation claim process if needed.

In many cases, no. If you’ve been injured at work, you should notify your supervisor or employer as soon as possible, but you should not delay medical care for an injury that requires evaluation. Our team can work with your employer and workers’ compensation insurance carrier regarding the necessary documentation.

Yes. Lansing Urgent Care partners with employers throughout Mid-Michigan to provide prompt evaluation, treatment, documentation, and follow-up care for work-related injuries. We help employees recover safely while helping employers manage workplace injuries efficiently.

Depending on your employer’s policies, a workplace injury evaluation may include post-accident drug screening or Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT). If testing is required, our occupational health team follows your employer’s procedures and applicable regulations.

Yes. Our providers can complete work status reports, return-to-work documentation, activity restrictions, and other required forms. We communicate with employers when appropriate to help ensure employees return to work safely and within recommended restrictions.

Bring a valid photo ID, your employer’s workers’ compensation information if available, any claim or authorization forms, and details about how the injury occurred. If your employer has provided specific paperwork, bringing it with you will help expedite your visit.

Seek emergency medical care immediately if your workplace injury involves severe bleeding, an open fracture, loss of consciousness, chest pain, difficulty breathing, major burns, significant head trauma, or any life-threatening condition. Less severe workplace injuries can often be treated at Lansing Urgent Care.

Lansing Urgent Care offers convenient walk-in care, extended hours seven days a week, experienced occupational health providers, on-site X-rays, and comprehensive injury management. We work closely with employees, employers, case managers, and insurance carriers to help injured workers recover and return to work as safely and efficiently as possible.
