Turned my day around for the better.
"Thank you for being so compassionate and caring. Everything was explained well and in such an encouraging and understanding manner that we didn't feel like overreacting first time parents. We have always had good experiences here"

I was in and out in under 45 minutes, back home in under a hour feeling relief. The receptionist was kind, patient and efficient, The medical assistant was a joy and listened intently, she was born for the medical field. Finally the person who handled my discharge was clear with follow up instructions and very pleasant. 10/10 for everyone today, thank you! Finally, Angela was the perfect balance of problem solver and empathetic human.

"This has always been my go to place when I’m dealing with a potential sinus infection. I love that you can check in online ahead of time and not have a long wait. It’s such a clean facility, and everyone I have seen there over the years has always been very kind and professional. Highly recommend this place!"

Great experience 3 different times here for myself, and my kids! Not only has it been fast and efficient, they are finding new ways to help by adding some meds available from them immediately! I didn't have to cart my sick son around to the pharmacy after going to the doctor. Highly recommend these folks!!

What is considered acute pain?
Acute pain is pain that starts suddenly and usually lasts less than a few weeks. It often occurs after an injury, illness, or medical condition such as a muscle strain, sprain, fracture, burn, or infection. Unlike chronic pain, acute pain typically improves as the underlying cause heals. At Lansing Urgent Care, our providers evaluate the source of your pain and develop a treatment plan to help you recover as quickly and safely as possible.
When should I go to urgent care for acute pain?
You should visit urgent care if you develop sudden pain that is severe, persistent, or interfering with your daily activities. Common reasons include back pain, joint pain, muscle injuries, minor fractures, burns, or pain after a fall. Prompt evaluation can help identify the cause of your pain and prevent it from becoming worse.
What types of acute pain can urgent care treat?
Lansing Urgent Care treats many causes of acute pain, including muscle strains, sprains, sports injuries, back pain, neck pain, joint pain, minor fractures, burns, cuts, infections, and sudden pain caused by everyday activities. If your pain requires additional testing, we also offer on-site X-rays and other diagnostic services at many of our locations.
How will my provider determine what's causing my pain?
Your provider will begin by asking about your symptoms, medical history, and how the pain started. A physical examination is often enough to diagnose many conditions, but additional testing such as X-rays, laboratory testing, or an EKG may be recommended depending on your symptoms. Our goal is to identify the underlying cause of your pain so we can provide the most appropriate treatment.
Can urgent care prescribe medication for acute pain?
Yes. Depending on your diagnosis, your provider may recommend over-the-counter medications, prescription anti-inflammatory medications, muscle relaxers, or other treatments to help relieve your pain. Treatment recommendations are based on your condition and medical history while focusing on safe and effective pain management.
Can urgent care perform X-rays for painful injuries?
Yes. Many Lansing Urgent Care locations offer on-site digital X-rays to evaluate suspected fractures, joint injuries, and other painful conditions. Having imaging available during your visit allows our providers to diagnose many injuries quickly and begin treatment without requiring a separate appointment.
When should I go to the emergency room instead of urgent care for pain?
Go to the emergency room immediately if your pain is accompanied by chest pain, difficulty breathing, sudden weakness, confusion, loss of consciousness, severe abdominal pain, uncontrolled bleeding, major trauma, or a visibly deformed limb. These symptoms may indicate a medical emergency that requires hospital-level care.
Can acute pain go away on its own?
Some cases of acute pain improve with rest, ice, compression, elevation, and over-the-counter medications. However, pain that is severe, continues to worsen, lasts longer than expected, or limits your ability to work or perform daily activities should be evaluated by a medical provider to rule out more serious injuries or illnesses.
How long does acute pain usually last?
Acute pain generally lasts anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on the cause. Minor muscle strains may improve within days, while fractures or more significant injuries can take several weeks to heal. Your provider can give you a better estimate after evaluating your condition and discuss ways to manage your symptoms throughout the recovery process.
Do I need an appointment for acute pain treatment?
No. Lansing Urgent Care welcomes walk-in patients every day, and you can also save your spot online before arriving. Our providers are experienced in evaluating sudden pain and injuries, allowing you to receive prompt care without waiting for an appointment with your primary care provider.
