Katie’s career in healthcare began in 2015 as an ARRT-certified Radiologic Technologist, training in a Level I trauma hospital in Detroit — an environment where precision isn’t optional and details matter. It was there that she learned something that would shape her leadership philosophy: excellence in healthcare lives in the smallest decisions.
When Katie joined Lansing Urgent Care, she brought more than technical expertise in diagnostic imaging. She brought an unwavering attention to detail, a drive to get it right every single time, and a belief that clinical excellence and human connection are not competing priorities — they are inseparable.
Her pursuit of high standards quickly set her apart. Katie rapidly rose through the ranks — from Radiologic Technologist to Certified Clinical Trainer, Clinical Coordinator, and Clinical Training Program Manager — earning a reputation for building systems that are as thoughtful as they are effective. She doesn’t just ask how something works; she asks how it can work better.
During a national X-ray technologist shortage, she saw not just a staffing gap — she saw a responsibility. She helped design and launch the Radiology Specialist Training Program, a rigorous, year-long internship approved by the State of Michigan and the Department of Labor. The program equips Medical Assistants for limited-scope radiology roles with advanced training grounded in radiation safety, anatomy, physiology, and precise radiologic positioning — strengthening patient safety while expanding access to essential imaging services.
In developing the program, Katie partnered with Control the Dose, an online radiology education platform where specialists build their foundational knowledge. True to form, she didn’t simply implement the curriculum — she refined it. So many of Katie’s recommendations were incorporated into the platform that the enhanced product was later shared with the Urgent Care Association, which adopted it as a recommended educational resource for urgent care centers across the country. What began as a solution for Lansing Urgent Care became a model influencing urgent care radiology training nationwide.
In 2023, Katie stepped into the role of Director of Clinical Services. Today, she leads a team of nearly 110 clinical professionals, including Medical Assistants, X-Ray Technologists, Radiology Specialists, Patient Care Technicians, Clinical Coordinators, and Department Managers. Her work spans clinical operations, process improvement, patient experience, and strategic project management — but at its core, her leadership is about people.
Katie is known for her meticulous standards and relentless commitment to improvement. She believes that processes should be refined, communication should be clear, and patient care should never feel rushed or transactional. Yet what sets her apart is that her pursuit of perfection never overshadows compassion. She pairs accountability with empathy. She holds high expectations — and holds space for the humans behind the work.
Outside of work, Katie’s most important role is being a mom and a wife. In fact, she met her husband at Lansing Urgent Care — proof that sometimes the most meaningful connections are formed while caring for others. What started as a shared commitment to patient care became a shared life built on the same values of service, compassion, and dedication. Family and community are central to who she is and how she leads. She believes healthcare should feel personal because it is personal. Strong systems matter. Precision matters. Excellence matters. But in the end, healthcare is about people caring for people — and Katie builds teams that never forget that.
